the Complete Apple UK Singles Collection is a 10 CD set with almost every Apple single on it. It comes in a gold-embossed box in a style evoking the elegant blue livery of the various Beatles boxed sets, and includes a detailed booklet and fold-out posters of record sleeves. As far as I can tell, whoever made it used digital sources where possible, but many tracks were "remastered" direct from vinyl copies. (The Brute Force tracks are particularly ropy; both King Of Fuh and Nobody Knows have only more recently been issued on CD, but not by Apple.)
Ironically, many of the undigitised singles are among Apple's best: Trash, Ronnie Spector, Chris Hodge, Sundown Playboys, Black Dyke Mills Band. However, no one's likely to miss I'm Going To Fall In Love Again: Mary Hopkin magnanimously included Knock Knock, Who's There when she compiled the excellent CD version of her "Best Of" album, Those Were The Days (CD SAPCOR 23), but its B-side must have been beyond the pale.
Other unreleased items have also been promised, but never materialised. The sleeve notes to the CD re-issue of James Taylor (CD SAPCOR 3) promise unreleased gems from James Taylor's Apple session. The Al Kooper remix of Name Of The Game, the cancelled Apple 35, has been hinted at in sleeve notes (CD SAPCOR 19). Van Eaton has promised a re-issue of Brother (SAPCOR 25), which would make both Apple 46 and the Van Eaton's second, US-only single, available - but no sign yet.
Of course, it's not enough just to re-issue the recordings, they have to be kept in print too. By 2004 some of the CD re-issues had seemingly become as hard to find as the vinyl originals: Jackie Lomax's eponymous album (CD SAPCOR 6) and Maybe Tomorrow by The Iveys (CD SAPCOR 8)
